History Students, Faculty Work is Featured in Times Weekly

The Times Weekly, recently featured the work of Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ students and faculty led by Morgan Jennings, Kathleen W. Bolden Trailblazer Scholarship recipient and student coordinator for Reclaiming the Narrative: Restoring Black Voices to the Story of Joliet, and Dr. Dennis H. Cremin, history professor and director of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ History Center.
" " spotlights the research grant initiative funded by the Chicago-based . The students have been visiting churches and organizations on Joliet’s south side and listening to Black elders tell the untold stories of the local Black community.
The Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ team is working with partners, Second Baptist Church, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Warren-Sharpe Community Center, and National Hookup of Black Women(Joliet Chapter). Preliminarily, the students are involved in asking the partners what stories they would like to share about themselves. The students are then working on-site to digitize documents and images. These materials will be made available through digital collections at the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Library.
