Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Blesses Labs for Healthcare Programs

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ held a Ribbon Cutting and Blessing Ceremony on January 22 for its renovated space for healthcare programs at its Chicago location in Uptown. Over 6,200 square feet of space was converted into a Nursing Lab Suite and a Lab to accommodate the programs starting in the St. Augustine College modality, which features bilingual instruction.
“These labs are spaces where students apply their skills and start fulfilling their dreams of becoming healthcare professionals serving our communities as they become healthier,” Dr. Daisy Sherry, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, said during the ceremony.
Others who participated in the festivities included Dr. David Livingston, President of Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ, Dr. Angela Vidal-Rodriguez, Dean of St. Augustine College at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ, and Faisal Master, an alumnus of the .
The Nursing Lab Suite features three labs (Fundamentals, Health Assessment, and Simulation), a Control Room for Sim Observation, and a larger classroom with 24 seats. The labs will also serve as a debriefing area for Nursing students after their lab work.
The classroom was equipped with Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ’s standard instructional technology, including a mobile monitor, a laptop connection, and a mini-PC. There is also an AV system integrated across the labs and the control room, with cameras, microphones, and speakers, enabling nursing students to conduct recorded simulations and lab practice.
Renovations to the classrooms included architectural, electrical, plumbing & mechanical updates. New finishes include millwork, paint, new ceiling tiles, lighting, and nursing equipment & supplies.
The new Pharmacy Technician lab provides students with a real-world, hands-on learning environment. It features wall-mounted, pharmacy-style open shelves and a mobile monitor cart with connections for laptops and PCs.
St. Augustine College at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ's degree programs offer flexible class schedules, small class sizes, and one-on-one counseling with learning facilitators. These programs are available in English as a second language, giving Spanish-speaking students the opportunity to grow their careers and advance their English proficiency.
