Lewis Earns American College Theatre Festival Awards

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Student Wins American College Theatre Festival Award for Lighting Design

Students and faculty in the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Theatre Department recently earned several recognitions from the .

ACTF Region 3 honors included:

Gabe Seemann - Theatrical Design Excellence Honorable Mention in Lighting Design

Kevin Trudeau – Faculty Service Award

Seeman was among the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ students who attended the festival, along with Toby Nguyen, Robert Fudala, and Mary Lee. Theater students included Sei Barbour, Elle Johnson, Sydney Kaczorowski, Devin Kenebrew, Chase Loomos, Keimari McMichael, and Keegan Srebro.

Theater alumni Michael Goelz and Justin McCarthy attended, along with theater minor alumna Molly Gustafson.

Trudeau, chair and associate professor of theater, and Andrew Nelsen, associate professor and technical & production designer, were the faculty members in attendance.

Nelsen served as a regional design project respondent, as a resume doctor and portfolio reviewer, and collaborator on the Tech Challenge event. Nelsen also presented the scenic design from Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ’s production of “Superior Donuts” in the Faculty Design and Technology Exposition.

Students competed against more than 600 students across Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, and western Ohio. Notably, Elle Johnson and her acting partner Devin Kenebrew made the final round of 16 (out of over 200) in the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship Auditions.

In addition to these competitions, all students participated in workshops, attended invited productions, and exchanged ideas and accomplishments with other theatre students in the area.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ students also performed a scene from their recent production of “Ride the Cyclone” at the Opening Ceremonies, as part of the “Evening of Scenes”. The selection was “The Ballad of Jane Doe,” featuring theatre major and music minor Keimari McMichael.

Additionally, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ students toured the Middleton ETC Lighting factory.
